Javier Pioz was born in 1954 in the city center of Madrid, at the neighborhood named “Barrio de los Austrias”.
He owns a PH.D in Architecture and Building Design by “Madrid Polytechnic University” (SPAIN), a “Master of Science in Architecture and Building Design” at Columbia University, New York (USA). He got the “Rome Award” by the “Spanish Academy of Fine Arts” in Rome (Italy) and Advanced Studies Diploma from “Academy of Fine Arts” in Salzburg (Austria).
Dr. Pioz is the pioneer and creator of BIONIC ARCHITECTURE principles and theories. (“Learning from Nature”). His architectures are mainly located in Spain, India, China, Emirates, Malaysia and Rusia.
In 2008 (Singapore) Dr. Pioz was awarded with the “GOLDEN GLOBAL AWARD”, the most prestigious high recognition granted to a foreign architect due to his excellence in developing his professional career, being the first European architect receiving this award. Dr. Pioz has been granted also with “Honours Award” from “Foundation for Architecture and Environmental Awareness” (New Delhi), and “Silver Medal” from “Indian Architects Institute, Northern Chapter”. He is also “Academic Honored Member” from “IIID” University in Pune (India).
Dr. Pioz is currently Main Professor at School of Architecture (Polytechnic University). He has been invited to teach at “Columbia University” (New York), “Cooper Union University” (N.York), Miami University (Miami), “Ion Mincu University” (Bucarest), “Ton GJii” University (Shanghai) and “ZheJiang University” (Hangzhou), among other institutions.
Dr. Pioz is Member of “International Federation for High Rise Towers and Tall Buildings” (Bangalore), and President of Foundation “International Society for Innovation in Architecture – INNOVARS”.
