Urbanscapes on Rugs

The Dilli waala rug by weaver Sajana depicts the capital city. The waves on top of the rug are inspired by the way the Delhi Metro runs on its tracks while the diamond pattern has been inspired from the way buildings are closely constructed next to each other. She has ornamented the rugs with flowers and garlands with her own home cozily placed in the center of it. The rug is part of a new collection by Jaipur Rugs called Artisan Originals, which taps into the untamed fashion from the villages of India. Another rug part of this collection is Bangla by weaver Sonia, which features four bungalows and is adorned with tomb shaped motifs usually seen on temple tops.
